The ban came after members of the subreddit incited violence against employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a team led by Elon Musk.
The comments from forum users were made after rumors started circulating on the web that these employees had accessed confidential personal information of millions of Americans.
Elon Musk then shared the users’ comments, stating that they were violating the law. This, in turn, led to the banning of the forum for 72 hours. In a statement, Reddit said that posts with threats violated its rules, but debates were allowed.
